FOREST LAWN, GLENDALE -- Catholicos Aram I, the spiritual leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church, will deliver an address at 8:30 a.m. today at Forest Lawn, Glendale during a program commemorating the 1,700-year anniversary of the church. The pontiff will speak to more than 700 students of Prelay Armenian Church School. His appearance at Forest Lawn will mark the second day of a five-day tour of Southern California. On Wednesday, Aram I addressed the congregation of St. Mary's Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale.

Amber Willard GLENDALE -- The family of a woman whose body was cremated at Forest Lawn Memorial Park's Glendale location has sued the company, claiming she was improperly embalmed. At Etoria Jean Hatcher's viewing and funeral, friends and family members were repulsed by a rotting stench and swarming flies, the suit said. "This family wants to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else because it was such a horrifying experience," said Holly McGregor, an attorney for the woman's family who has sued for an undisclosed amount.

  George Yates, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Verdugo Hills Hospital with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his daughter Linda Coonley, son George R. Yates, seven grandchildren and seven great-grand children.  Services are being held at Forest Lawn , 1712 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA  91205 at the Church of the Recessional on Friday, August 26, 2011 - 7 p.m..

John E. Sturla, 94, of Burbank, CA., died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, N. Hollywood, CA. A graveside service was held Monday, November 29 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA. He was born Oct 3, 1916 in Kansas City, MO. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; two sons, John II, and Joseph; daughter, Jacquelyn; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Harry Jean Beckman, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at his home in Glendale.  He was a resident of Glendale for 47 years.  Harry was born July 2, 1922 on the family farm in Kirk, Colorado, son of Harry Walter Beckman and Ida Alice Bailey Beckman.  He grew up in Brush, Colorado where he was a high school basketball and track star.  He and his family moved to Pasadena, California in 1940.  He attended Pasadena City College before he joined the Navy.

Was a WWII veteran in the US Army with the rank of Platoon Sergeant in the Paratroops. He leaves his wife, Peggy, of 60 years and three sons, Tom (Karen), Jim, and Dan (Claudia), and daughter Mary Ann (Patrick). He leaves six granchildren, Kelly (Brett), Lindsey, Tommy, Danny, Andrew, and Nicole. Funeral Thursday at 11:00am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Burbank.

William Robert Raymond Bill Raymond was born on July 9, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA to William Simmons Raymond and Imogene Lyons and passed away in Glendale, CA on March 10, 2011 following a lengthy illness. Bill was an electronic engineer, working in the Los Angeles area for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Millie; daughter, Lauren (Dennis) Dean; son, William Clay Raymond; granddaughter, Kylie Dean; many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial will be held Friday, March 25 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, at 3:00.

Wayne Ernest Allen was born March 23, 1933 in Glendale, CA and died on April 8, 2013 at home in Concord, CA. Wayne grew up in Pacoima, running track and trying out jobs such as bee keeper's assistant. He attended Glendale Community College and eventually became a draftsman. During the Korean War, Wayne was stationed in England as part of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron flying weather data gathering missions and making lifelong friends. In 1960 Wayne married Aagot and together they had four children raising them in Santa Barbara and the San Fernando Valley.

The family of Franz Weissmuller mourns his passing on March 8, 2013 in Tarzana, California, where his family prayed with him at the time of his death. Franz was born September 18, 1931 in Modosch of the former Yugoslavia to Franz Weissmuller, Sr. and Katharina Rohrbacher Weissmuller. His early years as a teenager, with the Russian invasion and occupation of Yugoslavia, were wrought with much adversity for him and his family. Franz married Veronika Buck, in Graz, Austria. They immigrated to the United States in 1956.

Julietta McGowan was born on January 11, 1930 in El Paso, Texas and passed away at home on February 25, 2013 in Glendale, California. Julie graduated from El Paso Technical High School in 1948 and later in life moved to New Orleans, Louisiana for several years. During the mid 1950's, she moved to Los Angeles, California where she met her husband Doyle McGowan. They married on February 29, 1964 and lived in the same home in Glendale, California, until their passing. Julie was very active with the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montrose, where she was at one point her daughters' Girl Scout leader and Room Mom. She was a member of the  Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, the Verdugo Woodlands Association and the Los Angeles Theatre Organ Society.

Once again, the Forest Lawn Museum is host to the work of an extraordinary artist: the Russian-born painter Marc Chagall. Currently on its walls are 65 early monochromatic works, under the exhibition title “Chagall: The Early Etchings,” showing illustrations that are vivid and imaginative. The etchings originally illustrated two popular literary documents: “The Adventures of Chichikov,” by Russian poet and novelist Nikolai Gogol (1809-1852), also known as “Les Ames Mortes” (translation: “The Dead Souls”)

"Gladdy" Iggulden (born Gladys Belle Miller to Ruth and Roy Miller of Burbank) passed away peacefully at the age of 89. A lifelong Burbank resident, she graduated from Burbank High School in 1942. Gladdy enjoyed many pursuits, but her passion was sewing. At a young age she studied clothing construction and the art of pattern drafting. Well into her 80's she continued to design clothing and perform remarkable alterations. Most notable was Gladdy's lovingness and lovability. She touched many hearts and was blessed in return by the love of many.

If you think all paper books can be replaced by a Nook, iPad or Kindle, take a good look at “Picasso, Braque, & Léger: Twentieth Century Modern Masters,” an exhibition of works on paper at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale. Three early founders of Cubism, the most catalytic movement in modern art, engaged with poets, writers and printers to produce “livre d'artises” (artist books), not only as bound volumes, but as folios, scrolls, fold-outs, loose items in a box and concertinas.

Jo Ann enjoyed reading, traveling, bowling, playing cards, and spending time with her family and many friends. Authorities are seeking information about a hit-and-run accident that killed a 66-year-old woman as she stopped to care for an animal lying in the road near Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. Zina Feeley, 66, had parked her 2006 Lincoln Town Car along the north shoulder of the 6000 block of Forest Lawn Drive about midnight Saturday, City News Service reported citing authorities. While she was walking toward the animal, she was struck by a car traveling eastbound, LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told City News Service in a statement.
