FOREST LAWN, GLENDALE -- Catholicos Aram I, the spiritual leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church, will deliver an address at 8:30 a.m. today at Forest Lawn, Glendale during a program commemorating the 1,700-year anniversary of the church. The pontiff will speak to more than 700 students of Prelay Armenian Church School. His appearance at Forest Lawn will mark the second day of a five-day tour of Southern California. On Wednesday, Aram I addressed the congregation of St. Mary's Armenian Apostolic Church in Glendale.

Several homes were evacuated Sunday when a brush fire started in the Adams Hills neighborhood, charring a roughly two-acre hillside near Forest Lawn in Glendale, officials said.  The fire that broke out southeast of Forest Lawn was reported about 11:30 a.m., said Brandy Villanueva of Glendale Fire Department. About 110 firefighters from Glendale, Pasadena, Burbank, the city of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County knocked down the blaze about 1:10 p.m. No injuries were reported.

Amber Willard GLENDALE -- The family of a woman whose body was cremated at Forest Lawn Memorial Park's Glendale location has sued the company, claiming she was improperly embalmed. At Etoria Jean Hatcher's viewing and funeral, friends and family members were repulsed by a rotting stench and swarming flies, the suit said. "This family wants to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else because it was such a horrifying experience," said Holly McGregor, an attorney for the woman's family who has sued for an undisclosed amount.

He was born Oct 3, 1916 in Kansas City, MO. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; two sons, John II, and Joseph; daughter, Jacquelyn; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

  George Yates, Jr. passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Verdugo Hills Hospital with his loving family by his side. He is survived by his daughter Linda Coonley, son George R. Yates, seven grandchildren and seven great-grand children.  Services are being held at Forest Lawn , 1712 S. Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA  91205 at the Church of the Recessional on Friday, August 26, 2011 - 7 p.m..

Harry Jean Beckman, age 88, beloved husband, father, grandfather and uncle passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at his home in Glendale.  He was a resident of Glendale for 47 years.  Harry was born July 2, 1922 on the family farm in Kirk, Colorado, son of Harry Walter Beckman and Ida Alice Bailey Beckman.  He grew up in Brush, Colorado where he was a high school basketball and track star.  He and his family moved to Pasadena, California in 1940.  He attended Pasadena City College before he joined the Navy.

Was a WWII veteran in the US Army with the rank of Platoon Sergeant in the Paratroops. He leaves his wife, Peggy, of 60 years and three sons, Tom (Karen), Jim, and Dan (Claudia), and daughter Mary Ann (Patrick). He leaves six granchildren, Kelly (Brett), Lindsey, Tommy, Danny, Andrew, and Nicole. Funeral Thursday at 11:00am at St. Francis Xavier Church in Burbank.

Barbara Arnold, a long-time resident of La Cañada/Flintridge, passed away on March 10 following a brief illness. She was born in Los Angeles to Bernice Gilbert Kiggens and Earl Jennings Kiggens and was the eldest of three daughters. When Barbara was eleven years old the family moved to Glendale where she graduated from Glendale High School in 1946. She had maintained nearly perfect grades. Barbara was a member of Pi Beta Phi at the University of Southern California, obtaining her Master's Degree in Marketing.

Cemeteries aren't usually thought of as hotbeds of activity, but last Saturday night at the Forest Lawn Museum, atop the memorial park's Glendale grounds, proved the exception. As a blues band blared and colored lights splashed off the white walls of an adjacent chapel, several hundred guests ate, drank, danced and kibitzed in the museum plaza - all in the name of art. The occasion was "Drew & Bob: Masters of the Movies," the latest exhibit in the museum's series of open-to-the-public cultural events.

Dozens of art enthusiasts gathered at the Forest Lawn Museum in Glendale for a panel discussion featuring female artists and a state senator, with their focus being women in the arts and ways to push legislators to prioritize funding for arts education. The Southern California artists, along with State Sen. Carol Liu (D-La Cañada Flintridge), discussed the role of women in the arts during a forum hosted by the Glendale Commission on the Status of Women and the Forest Lawn Museum in connection with the museum's ongoing exhibit titled “LA Women: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow.” The exhibit, showing at the Forest Lawn Museum until Jan. 5, features 24 female artists from different time periods who've been influential in local art culture and history, some of whom pursued art despite a lack of access to an arts education.

Passed into the hands of his Lord on October 24, 2013. Long time Burbank resident William (Bill) Mitchell will be reunited with his loving wife, Lorraine. Survived by sons, John and Tom Mitchell, daughter, Melissa Mitchell Uetz, son-in-law, Mike Uetz and granddaughter, Sarah Mitchell. A decorated WWII naval officer, Bill and Lorraine operated the Mitchell Christian Book Store for many years. Services will be held at The Old North Church, Forest Lawn, Wednesday, October 30, 2013, 12 Noon.

Opal quietly slipped from her earthly shell to rejoin her beloved husband Ralph, daughter Barbara, and her son-in-law Phillip. Opal was known for her loving heart, her gift of hospitality, her age defying skin, and the best lemon meringue pie in the world. At the moment of her death, Opal was surrounded by son Ralph, daughter Twila, Erin, one of her 10 grandchildren and 13 great children. She was soon to meet her first great great grandchild. Opal and her family were longtime members of the 1st Baptist Church of Burbank, where she served as their wedding reception hostess for many years.

Wayne Ernest Allen was born March 23, 1933 in Glendale, CA and died on April 8, 2013 at home in Concord, CA. Wayne grew up in Pacoima, running track and trying out jobs such as bee keeper's assistant. He attended Glendale Community College and eventually became a draftsman. During the Korean War, Wayne was stationed in England as part of the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron flying weather data gathering missions and making lifelong friends. In 1960 Wayne married Aagot and together they had four children raising them in Santa Barbara and the San Fernando Valley.
