LA CANADA GLADIATORS JUNIOR GREMLINS (NO SCORE KEPT) La Canada vs. Huntington Park Spartans: Quarterback Jack Philo scored two rushing touchdowns to lead the Gladiators on Saturday at La Canada High. Kyle Cheung, Laron Brown, Brad Woolfe, Aaron Broddock, Austin Muller, Brandon Sharman, David Vardanian, Joshua Vasquez, Tanner Costi and Wesley Hovanesian played well on offense for the Gladiators. Grant Haxton, Joey Vasquez, Alex Harrity, Zach Weinberger, Brendan Hempstead, Nathan Grothe, Jake Charlton, Bradley Woolfe and Grant Woolf played well on defense for La Canada.

LA CANADA GLADIATORS GREMLINS DIVISION Charter Oak Chargers 40, La Canada 6: The Gladiators lost their first-round playoff contest Sunday at La Canada High School. Charter Oak scored 22 third-quarter points to seal the win. Running back Phil Gandara scored on a 50-yard run in the third quarter. La Canada's defense was anchored by Amari Sutphen, who had several tackles and a nice kickoff return that helped set up La Canada's score. Free safety Daleep Sandu had an interception for the Gladiators.

LA CANADA GLADIATORS GREMLINS The La Canada Gladiators posted a 20-6 victory Sunday against the El Sereno Stallions at La Canada High to secure a playoff spot. The Gladiators have lost just one game this season and will compete for the league championship. The Gladiators were led by their quarterback Ricky Vaughns who completed several passes to wide receiver Tyler Schloessmann and halfback Eugene Gandara. Vaughns also scored a touchdown on a 21-yard run. Gandara scored two touchdowns running behind the offensive line of Sean Dudley, Ryan McAleenan, Diego Lugo, Max Foster, Brendon Daily, Marti Guzman, Troy Manderosian and tight end Keith Enterante.

GREMLIN The La Canada Gladiators and Glendale Bears took a page from the playbook of the area high school football players Saturday and Sunday. Fierce rivalries expanded. Some games were close and others weren't. In the Gremlin contest, the Gladiators posted a 32-13 win Sunday at the Rose Bowl. Glendale couldn't contain the running and passing of the Gladiators, led by their quarterback, Ricky Vaughns. In the first quarter, the Gladiator defense held the Bears on their first possession and marched down the field on their first possession to score on a 20-yard bootleg by Vaughns.

LA CANADA GLADIATORS GREMLINS DIVISION La Canada 33, Huntington Park Spartans 0: The Gladiators won their third consecutive game and clinched a playoff berth Sunday at Huntington Park High School. La Canada took a 2-0 lead when James Solorzano, Amari Sutphen and Randall Mancilla sacked the Huntington Park quarterback in the end zone for a safety. La Canada running back Riian Simpson then scored on a 30-yard run to make it 8-0. Shane Tierney recovered a fumble, setting up a 6-yard touchdown run by Phil Gandara in the second quarter.

LA CANADA GLADIATORS GREMLIN The Covina Vikings remained undefeated and advanced to the semifinals after defeating the Gladiators, 21-7, on Sunday at Covina High. Although the game was close for three quarters, in the end, the Gladiators could not stop the Viking running game. On offense, the Gladiators were led by quarterback Ricky Vaughns, who scored the only Gladiator touchdown on a three-yard run. Running backs Antoine Sutphen, Eugene Gandara, who had a great 35-yard reception, Doug Pinsky and Andrew Carcich also played well.

LA CANADA GLADIATORS JUNIOR GREMLINS (No score kept) Quarterbacks Kyle Cheung and Jack Philo combined for seven touchdowns Sunday to spark the Gladiators past the El Sereno Stallions at Wilson High School. Cheung, who also recorded an interception, scored on runs of 40, 25, 12 and 55 yards. Philo scored on runs of 15, 17 and 40 yards. Teammates Aaron Broddock and Laron Brown scored on runs of 12 and 40 yards, respectively. Joshua Vazquez, Brandon Sharman, Austin Muller, David Vardanian, Tanner Costi, Wesley Hovanesian, Jack Stephens, Grant Haxton, Bradley Woolf, Joey Vazquez, Nathan Grothe and Alec Harrity played well for the Gladiators.

LA CANADA GLADIATORS FOOTBALL GREMLINS The La Canada Gladiators improved to 3-0 with a 37-13 win Sunday against the Whittier Redskins at Sierra Educational Center in Whittier. The Gladiators were led by quarterback Ricky Vaughns, who scored five touchdowns. In the first quarter, the Gladiators took the ball on their first possession and marched downfield. Vaughns had a key run of 35 yards and scored on a 15-yard touchdown run. After Antoine Sutphen slammed into the end zone on the extra point to make it 7-0. The Gladiator defense, led by defensive linemen Darius Clash, Maxim Foster, Randy Mancilla and Kevin Cooper dominated the line of scrimmage, while linebacker Joey Dowling had several key tackles and forced a fumble.
