Glendale Adventist Medical Center has named an interim chief executive as they search for a permanent replacement for Morre Dean, who left his post Friday to head Parker Adventist Hospital in Colorado. The hospital this week announced that Warren L. Tetz, senior vice-president of operations, will temporarily take over as Glendale Adventist conducts an executive search for a permanent replacement, Tetz has worked at Glendale Adventist, which was founded in 1905, for more than a decade.

Glendale Adventist Medical Center this week debuted its new radiology department, part of its massive campus expansion that included a new tower and major tech upgrades. The radiology department houses nuclear medicine, ultrasound, X-ray and other services, including digitial mammography and MRI and CT scans, according to an announcement from the hospital. The department started seeing patients at its new location on the basement floor of the West Tower on Wednesday.

The Glendale Educational Foundation’s “Dancing with Diamonds” 2011 hit every goal it set out for itself in the face of declining state revenues for education. With a glittering Hilton Glendale Hotel as its setting, 350 supporters attended the gala dinner and dance on Feb. 11. Each paid $100 to support Glendale schools. Of those, another generous 100 paid $50 for an empty champagne flute for two chances to win a one-half--karot diamond. (Rumor has it Kim Sheehan won one of the diamonds.

GLENDALE — Born at 2:59 a.m. Saturday, Lautaro Ignacio Abasto-Ruggeri was the first baby born at a Glendale hospital in 2011. He was born at 7 pounds, 3.9 ounces and 20 inches long to mother Andrea Ruggeri and father Damian Abasto at Glendale Adventist Medical Center.

Lynne M. Doll, a Glendale resident and president of The Rogers Group, died Aug. 3 of a stroke at Glendale Adventist Medical Center. She battled cancer for three years and was in remission at the time of her death. She was 48. For more than 25 years, Doll was instrumental in expanding the breadth of The Rogers Group's expertise and leading a series of high-profile and award-winning campaigns for major corporations, brands and government agencies, according to a statement released by a spokeswoman for the agency.

The hospital is in the process of finishing a new tower and has been a major player in stroke and cancer medical care. Kim Milstein, vice president of business development for Glendale Adventist, is also scheduled to appear on the show. The hospital has also spent millions on earthquake safety retrofits to meet state deadlines, and is one of the few certified stroke centers in the region.

The Soroptomist gals sure know how to fill a bra ? with baubles, bangles and beads, that is. ?Bras for a Cause Salutes Television? was the provocative title of the Soroptimist International of Glendale?s seventh annual fundraiser Saturday at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Glendale. The bra-studded evening included a reception, viewing of the decorated bras, silent and live auctions and dinner. Spot-on Lucille Ball impressionist Suzanne LaRusch provided entertainment and hostess duties.
