LA CRESCENTA — A Crescenta Valley High School math teacher arrested last week on suspicion of hit and run, assault and driving under the influence of alcohol has been placed on administrative leave, school officials said. The teacher, 59-year-old Michel Heckman, was arrested on Feb. 8 following a confrontation with 51-year-old Jun Choi Dong in central Glendale that included multiple car accidents, a civilian car chase and an alleged assault, police said. Although Heckman disputes police and witness versions of the events, police report that at about 8:30 p.m. Feb. 8, Heckman hit the back of Dong's Toyota Sienna van with his rented Ford Taurus at the intersection of Glendale and Elk avenues, causing only minor damage, Glendale Police Officer John Balian said.
