Two Florida men were arrested this week on suspicion of possessing a half-kilogram of cocaine after they were stopped for talking on a handheld cellphone while driving, officials said. The men - Herwood Barrington Walters, 25, and Courtney Lalor, 28 - were taken into custody about 9:18 p.m. Tuesday on North Central Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale, according to Glendale police reports. The pair provided officers with few clues about why they were in Glendale, but police believe “they were probably trying to sell the cocaine,” Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.

West Los Feliz Road and San Fernando Road William Stewart, 32, was arrested Jan. 5 on suspicion of unlawfully possessing and carrying a dangerous weapon. 100 block of North Verdugo Road Armando Rivera, 45, was arrested Jan. 6 on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

GLENDALE ? A Glendale man was arrested on suspicion of hit and run Thursday for allegedly knocking over a traffic signal on Glenoaks Boulevard then fleeing the scene, police said. Aram Grigoryan, 20, of Glendale was allegedly driving eastbound on Glenoaks Boulevard in a black Infiniti G35 just before noon when he attempted to make a right turn at Geneva Street and lost control of the car, Glendale Police Lt. Carl Povilaitis said. The right hand turn lane was closed for construction work, he said.

A boy was taken to County-USC Medical Center after he lost control of his car during a street race on Glenoaks Boulevard Thursday afternoon, police said. Witnesses told police they saw two cars going about 65 or 70 mph at Highland Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, police said. One of the cars appeared to "lock up," hit a curb and slid along the sidewalk before hitting a tree in the 900 block of Glenoaks Boulevard. The boy, 17, was conscious when firefighters pulled him from his car, Sgt. Kirk Palmer said.

NORTHWEST GLENDALE — When a woman drove her car through the front of Movses Golden Pastry five years ago, owner Armen Nazarian thought he could protect his store by installing steel barriers in front of the property. He was wrong. Early Tuesday, police said, a Burbank woman in the parking lot slammed on the gas pedal of her white Toyota 4Runner and barreled through the Glenoaks Boulevard corner bakery. She evaded a steel barrier and smashed through a storefront window, refrigerators, tables and chairs.

Gretchen Hoffman GLENDALE -- Two men pleaded not guilty Monday to trying to kill another man during a car chase through Glendale, officials said. Armen Babalarian, 30, of Glendale and Eduard Petrosyan, 25, of North Hollywood are charged with attempted murder and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. During the chase Thursday, shots were fired in the area of Glenoaks Boulevard and Sonora Avenue, and witnesses reported seeing two cars chasing each other east on Glenoaks Boulevard.

Amber Willard A woman sitting inside Popeye's Chicken and Biscuits got more on her table than she wanted Monday afternoon when a minivan ran into the store. The woman, whose name was not released, received cuts and scrapes when glass and debris sprayed across her table. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Noone else was seriously hurt, police said. The wreck, which involved three cars at the intersection of Western Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, sent the minivan careening into the corner of the restaurant at 1651 W. Glenoaks Blvd.

Police have locked down a neighborhood surrounding Fremont Park as they search for any suspects who may have been involved in a shooting there earlier today. The neighborhoods surrounding Concord Street to Pacific Avenue and the Ventura (134) Freeway to Glenoaks Boulevard are under tight police command while they search for a gunman or any suspects who may still be hiding. A 28-year-old Burbank man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to burglary charges after police say he repeatedly attempted to trespass into several homes. Lorenzo Gutierrez faces one felony count of first and second-degree home burglary each, as well as one felony count of vehicle burglary, according to a Los Angeles County Superior Court criminal complaint. He was taken into custody about 5:50 p.m. Sunday after Glendale police said he was carrying a bag containing cameras - some with photographs of families - which he allegedly planned to use for “research on the 21st Century movement.” Witnesses reporting seeing Gutierrez jump into their backyards to gain access to their home garages in the 1100 block of North Kenilworth Avenue, Newby Street and Rosedale Avenue, as well as the 1200 block of Grandview Avenue, according to Glendale police.

A 28-year-old Glendale man was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly chased a stranger down the street while wielding a nearly foot-long hunting knife, police said. Marco Foschetti was taken into custody at nearly 3 p.m. at Allen Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard after the man he allegedly chased identified him as his attacker, according to Glendale police reports. Police said he was sweaty, had grass clippings on his clothing and his elbows were bleeding.

Police have reopened a Glendale neighborhood that was put on lockdown as officers searched for a man who fled on foot during a traffic stop. The man, described as heavy set and Latino or white, was one of two men in a car pulled over by police at Ruberta Avenue and San Fernando Road earlier today. The other man has been arrested. It was not immediate known why the men fled. Police received numerous calls from residents who said a man was banging on their home doors and begging to be allowed inside.

A 23-year-old Glendale man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly led police on a chase on his motorcycle, hitting speeds of more than 100 mph on residential streets. Aren Boghozian allegedly reached the high speeds in northeast Glendale's neighborhood of Grandview Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, according to police. Officers spotted Boghozian, who was wearing a helmet with a Mohawk adhered to it, speeding on Glenoaks before allegedly running a red light at Grandview after they activated their lights and sirens.

Officials were at a loss to explain how a 53-year-old Glendale woman drove her Mercedes about a mile up a concrete Verdugo Wash channel Thursday before barreling to a stop just short of an 8-foot drop-off into the L.A. River. The woman, whom police didn't identify Thursday, entered the wash about 11 a.m. at Glenoaks Boulevard and Kenilworth Avenue after reportedly confusing the concrete-lined channel for a freeway on-ramp, officials said. About a mile later, and after reaching speeds of up to 70 mph, the woman finally stopped after barreling down about nine, 3-foot long steps.
