The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which supplies up to 70% of the utility’s water, is set to reduce all shipments to its member agencies by 10% July 1 as a result of a statewide water crisis. If Glendale uses more than its allotment, it will have to pay three times as much for its water, which would translate into higher rates for consumers, said Peter Kavounas, assistant general manager of water services.
