Police were searching for a possible gunman at Cal State Northridge this afternoon.  According to an emergency notification on the school's Facebook page, police received a report at 10:27 a.m. of a man who indicated he had a gun. The man was described as 5-foot-8 with short spiky hair. He was said to be wearing a white T-shirt that says "human rights violation" and short jeans. Police say more than two dozen rounds were exchanged between the Latino man who died in an intense gun battle with officers early this morning. The man, whose identity hasn't been released pending family notification, died of multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene on San Fernando Road and Glendale Avenue, police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. No officers were injured during the gun battle. “Right now, we are trying to determine why at 2:30 this morning he was wandering the streets and firing his weapon before the police arrived, and why then, when the police arrived, he literally attacked the officers,” Lorenz said.

GLENDALE — A 46-year-old Los Angeles man charged with shooting a Glendale Pizza Hut employee during a robbery was finally nabbed Wednesday in Fresno after eluding police for more than a year. The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Daryl Beulah after Glendale police detectives tracked him down using DNA evidence left at the scene, police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. Glendale police presented DNA findings to the Los Angeles County district attorney office, which ordered an arrest warrant for Beulah on Nov. 12, according to court documents.

Employee shot in Pizza Hut robbery GLENDALE ? A 20-year-old woman was shot once in the shoulder shortly before noon Sunday during a robbery at a Glendale Pizza Hut. Officers responded to reports of a shooting and found the wounded employee at 1261 S. Central Ave. She was taken to nearby Glendale Memorial Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said. The suspect, a black man wearing a business suit, escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, said Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz.

Buck Wargo CITY HALL -- A 28-year-old Glendale man was being held Monday in the Glendale City Jail on accusations he robbed a couple. Bail has been set at $50,000 for Arturo Hernandez. Hernandez is held in connection with the robbery of a Glendale couple, 31 and 22, just after 4 a.m. Sunday as they were walking in the 500 block of West Doran Street toward the Days Inn of Glendale. The couple said they had just gotten out of their Mustang when two men got out of a white Honda Civic and approached them.

Gary Moskowitz A shooting at Los Angeles International Airport on Thursday that left three dead and at least four wounded had no effect on operations at the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport, an airport official said. Airport Supervisor Rick Maggio said he could not comment directly on aspects of airport security Thursday, but did say nothing out of the ordinary had occurred by Thursday evening. "Everything here is OK," Maggio said. Sgt. Jose Duran of the Burbank Police Department said Burbank Police had not been contacted in regards to the reported incident at LAX and had not made any additional deployments to Burbank Airport.

Police have ended a lock down of the neighborhood around Fremont Park where several shots were fired earlier today after no suspects were located. Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said none of the dozen or so men who were involved in a parking lot brawl prior to the shooting were found. No one was reported injured in the shooting, which occurred at about 1:35 p.m. Police did find a bullet lodged in the wall of a nearby home, and a switchblade on the park's playground. A Special Weapons and Tactics team was called in to search the park, as were K-9 units from Glendale and Burbank, and a police helicopter.

A parole agent shot Wednesday in Lake View Terrace was hit in the face. Police continued to search for the gunman, who was considered armed and dangerous. The officer's injury was not life threatening, police sources said, and the shooting appears to have occurred at a residence on Foothill Boulevard. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department was handling the investigation. The shooting, sometime after 1 p.m., caused officials to close the 210 Freeway in both directions as they searched for the gunman.

A bomb threat called into R.D. White Elementary school Monday morning that prompted an evacuation of the entire campus was determined to be a prank call, police said, but the incident served as a jolt to some parents as they picked up their children. With the images of police responding to last month's shooting at a Newtown, Conn., elementary school - where a gunman killed 20 children and six adults - seared into the nation's consciousness, parents who picked up their children at the evacuation point at the Whole Foods Market on Glendale Avenue expressed sense of shock and disbelief.

A Latino man in his 30s died of multiple gunshot wounds early Friday morning after engaging Glendale police in a gun battle near Cerritos Elementary School. No officers were injured during the battle, which started at 2:30 a.m. at San Fernando Road and Glendale Avenue.
