GLENDALE — The following are updates on area athletes at the collegiate level. Rebecca Salvo (Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 2006) freshman outside hitter, Haverford College women's volleyball: The third-seeded Fords saw their season conclude Friday after they fell in five games to second-seeded Gallaudet, 27-30, 30-23, 28-30, 30-22, 16-14 in an NCAA Division III regional postseason match at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. Haverford finished the season 25-5 and won its first Centennial Conference Championship.

GLENDALE — The following are updates on local athletes competing at the collegiate level. Rachel Salvo (Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 2006) freshman middle hitter, Haverford College women's volleyball — Salvo, a former All-Area first-team selection, finished with 12 kills, 12 assists and 10 digs to power the visiting Fords to a come-from-behind 20-30, 29-31, 30-28, 30-19, 15-8 victory against McDaniel in Saturday's Centennial Conference match at Westminster, Md. The Fords (20-4 overall, 6-2 in conference)

GLENDALE — The following are updates on area athletes competing at the collegiate level:   Eric Kleinsasser (Crescenta Valley High, 2007) sophomore, Occidental College men’s cross-country: Kleinsasser achieved All-American status Saturday. Kleinsasser wrapped up the final All-American spot after he clocked 26 minutes 8.4 seconds to finish 35th on an 8K course on Highland Park Golf Course at the NCAA Division III championships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Cleveland.

Josh Kleinbaum It started at a bowling alley. Matt Bosch and Zach Newman, friends since preschool, spent most Friday and Saturday nights at a bowling alley. But by sophomore year at Flintridge Preparatory School, their focus had shifted from the lanes to the machines. The prize became more important than the pins. And the best part was their post-game celebration. Bosch and Newman, along with one other friend, have perfected the art of winning stuffed animals from claw machines.

Rebecca Salvo (Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, 2006) senior outside hitter, Haverford College women’s volleyball: Salvo, a former All-Area first-team honoree, was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week after she helped Haverford capture its own tournament Saturday. Salvo averaged 4.06 kills per game and had a .436 hitting percentage to spark the Fords (5-0). She contributed 59 kills and 61 digs in four tournament matches.
