NORTHEAST GLENDALE — Search as she did, Glendale Adventist Academy girls’ volleyball Coach Bianka Tulgar really couldn’t find any positives in Thursday afternoon’s Westside League match. “They tried real hard, I guess” she said. But shortly after that, she wondered aloud about her team not truly showing up to play against a visiting Highland Hall that Tulgar felt her team could defeat. “We’ve played harder teams and done better,” said Tulgar following the Cougars’ 25-21, 25-19, 25-21 loss to the Hawks in the Glendale Adventist gym. In every facet of the game, the Cougars struggled in what Tulgar called their worst showing of a season.

SOUTHEAST GLENDALE — One would be hard-pressed to say Glendale High baseball Coach Jon Keefer is not a compassionate man. Before the first inning was even through, he was giving his Nitros the red light, holding them up from extra bases and piling on runs and by the third inning he had already started unloading his bench against an overmatched Highland Hall. Overmatched or not, Highland Hall fell to host Glendale, 15-4, in an abbreviated five-inning nonleague game that saw the Nitros win their third straight contest.

NORTHEAST GLENDALE - Though the Glendale Adventist Academy girls' volleyball team remains a work in progress, there's at least plenty of comfort for the Cougars knowing they have a steady 1-2 punch. Specifically, the sister combination of Andrea and Erin Blake. With Andrea pounding the ball for kills and Erin recording timely aces, it's helped speed up the progress. It showed Monday afternoon, as Andrea finished with a match-high 17 kills and Erin added a match-best seven aces to power host Glendale Adventist to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-12 nonleague victory against Highland Hall.
