Los Angeles police Tuesday night suspended a search near a Hollywood Hills crime scene where two dogs uncovered a human head hidden in a plastic bag. Investigators were planning to resume searching below the Hollywood sign near Canyon Drive after sunrise Wednesday to determine whether additional human remains were left in the area, the Los Angeles Police Department said. The head was believed to be that of an Armenian male in his 40s with salt-and-pepper hair, law enforcement sources told The Times.

Alecia Foster FOREST LAWN, HOLLYWOOD HILLS -- Fifty Glendale Adventist Academy students are walking taller after graduating from the high school. Parents, family and friends filled Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills' Liberty Hall Sunday morning for the celebration. While it was a day of great joy, Senior Class President Charlene Tobola, also a member of the National Honor Society, called it a day of sadness. Once the students walked out the doors of the graduation hall, she said, they would all head in separate directions.

Joyce Rudolph HOLLYWOOD HILLS -- Former Mayor and City Councilman Sheldon Baker will receive the Spirit of America Award at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Hall of Liberty in Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills. The event, featuring a Boy Scout flag-raising ceremony and singing by the Southern California Mormon Choir, is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Glendale and North Hollywood stakes. Baker is a senior partner at Halstead, Baker and Olson, where he specializes in estate planning and other financial matters.

John E. Sturla, 94, of Burbank, CA., died Wednesday, November 24, 2010, N. Hollywood, CA. A graveside service was held Monday, November 29 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, CA. He was born Oct 3, 1916 in Kansas City, MO. He worked for Lockheed Aircraft for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Rhoda; two sons, John II, and Joseph; daughter, Jacquelyn; 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

May 22, 1916 ~ August 6, 2010 Irene passed away in Pleasanton, CA at the age of 94. Irene was a member of the African Violet Society, Glendale and Lockheed Employees Recreation and Garden Club, Burbank. Irene loved to dance and was active at the Joslyn Senior Center, Burbank, for over 20 years. Irene was preceded in death in 1976 by her husband; Glenn Reyman.  She had one daughter, Carol Reyman Gibbons, two grandsons; Greg Gibbons and David (Robin) Gibbons, and 5 great grandchildren.

Amber Willard HOLLYWOOD HILLS -- Local members of choral and bell-ringing groups will be ringing and singing in the holiday season Saturday afternoon at the "Harmony at Christmas" concert. The Crescenta Valley Highlander Chorus and Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus, as well as quartets made up of some of their members, will be joined by the Alchemy Bell Ringers and Sunshine Chorus for the two-hour concert at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills. "We want to bring a little joy because everybody gets so busy and bogged down this time of year," said Jackie Wheatley, assistant director of the all-female Verdugo Hills Showtime Chorus.

Sigrid Reid, 73, entered the kingdom of heaven on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Sigrid passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family at the City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte, CA. Sigrid was born October 25, 1939, in Los Angeles, CA to Ben and Dorothy Frankson. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald Reid, her daughter Rebecca Reid of Santa Ynez, CA, and her son Paul Reid, of Glendale CA. Sigrid met her husband Ron while walking to work one day in 1961. They were married at American Lutheran Church on October 19, 1962, and lived in the Burbank area for their entire 50 year marriage.

William Robert Raymond Bill Raymond was born on July 9, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA to William Simmons Raymond and Imogene Lyons and passed away in Glendale, CA on March 10, 2011 following a lengthy illness. Bill was an electronic engineer, working in the Los Angeles area for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Millie; daughter, Lauren (Dennis) Dean; son, William Clay Raymond; granddaughter, Kylie Dean; many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial will be held Friday, March 25 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, at 3:00.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 24 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for Alice Williams Reeder, 92, who died November 18 in Glendale. Mrs. Reeder was born in Malad, Idaho, and graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah. Upon her marriage to Homer B. Reeder in 1940, the couple settled in Glendale, where they raised their four children. Mrs. Reeder was an EKG technician at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and served in a variety of capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which she was a life-long member.

Authorities are seeking information about a hit-and-run accident that killed a 66-year-old woman as she stopped to care for an animal lying in the road near Forest Lawn cemetery in the Hollywood Hills. Zina Feeley, 66, had parked her 2006 Lincoln Town Car along the north shoulder of the 6000 block of Forest Lawn Drive about midnight Saturday, City News Service reported citing authorities. While she was walking toward the animal, she was struck by a car traveling eastbound, LAPD Officer Cleon Joseph told City News Service in a statement.

A second human hand was discovered Wednesday afternoon below the Hollywood sign, hours after another hand was found and a day after dogs discovered a severed head in the hiking area. Los Angeles Police Department detectives have been moving through a large swath of the Hollywood Hills in Bronson Canyon looking for more body parts and trying to determine what exactly happened. The head was first discovered at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bronson Canyon Park near a trail below the Hollywood sign by two people walking nine dogs.

Micaela Vasquez, a long time resident of Burbank, CA passed away on Sunday, January 8th, 2012 at the age of 83.  She was born in Lordsburg, New Mexico on September 29, 1928.  She was the beloved wife of the late Ernesto Vasquez.  Micaela was also preceded in death by her grandson Patrick Banda.  Left to cherish her memory are her children Gloria (Jim) Banda of Colorado Springs, CO, Daniel (Yvonne) Vasquez of Valencia, CA, Rebecca (Alan) Morton of Fountain Hills, AZ and Lydia (Mike)

  James Olliff James W. Olliff, 64, passed away on September 15, 2011 after a valiant three-year battle with cancer. With the exception of the four years he served in the U.S. Air Force, Jim was a lifelong Glendale resident.   He was devoted to his family, his friends and his community. He served for years as a Neighborhood Watch block captain. He was also an avid amateur radio operator (ham), a member of the Crescenta Valley Radio Club, and served as City Radio Officer for Glendale.

  Wilma Roberts, 91, also known as Willia Mae, peacefully passed away on June 2, 2011.  She was born in 1919 in Kentucky where she grew up in a large family with 3 sisters and a brother.  She resided in Burbank since 1959.  She was loved by her husband, Charlie, and her sons Charles Roberts Jr., Jim Gosnell and daughter-in-law Ray Gosnell.   Wilma had a long career in bookkeeping and accounting with a number of companies both in Louisville and...

Walter D. Schreiner August 2, 1930 - May 8, 2011                   Walt was born in Rochester NY, on August 2, 1930.  He moved to California with his family as a young boy in 1935.  He grew up in Eagle Rock and met his wife Marcia in high school.  They were married in 1953 and resided in Burbank for their entire married life.  Walt was the third generation in the family business, Schreiners Fine Sausages Inc. located in Glendale, Ca.  Favorite past times include boating and RV trips with their many family and friends.
