I am a registered Democrat, and lifelong resident of La Crescenta/Glendale, and supporter of James Rogan. I am a third-generation owner of a small business, and married into a family of yet another small family business, which resides in Glendale. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Will Rogers for displaying a complete lack of respect for the winner of the 27th Congressional race, Adam Schiff, by disrespecting Rogan and all of his hard work he has done for this district.

o7 An Open Letter to Congressman James E. Rogan: f7 Dear Jim, As Tuesday, Nov. 7 fades into the past, we wanted to tell you -- publicly -- how proud we are to have been a part of your staff over these past four years. You are a true hero and a patriot, and you served your district well. It has been our privilege and pleasure to stand with you as you took your place in American history, even through the dark days of the impeachment trial. You stood your ground and inspired millions of Americans with your courage.

Claudia Peschiutta GLENDALE -- Experience and money are not enough to win an election. Despite his four years in Congress and a $6-million campaign, Rep. James Rogan (R-Glendale) on Wednesday morning found himself calling to congratulate state Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Glendale) on his win in the 27th Congressional District race. Rogan's early lead on Tuesday night quickly dwindled. When results from all of the area's 363 precincts were reported on Wednesday, Schiff came out the clear winner with 52.76% of the vote, while Rogan took only 43.76% of the ballots cast.

Paul Clinton and Jenna Bordelon GLENDALE -- As early results hit the huge television monitors at the Hilton Glendale, 27th Congressional District supporters of incumbent Rep. James Rogan (R-Glendale) gathered to watch. Mingling in the ballroom, they cheered as Florida wavered away from Vice President Al Gore. But the early results from the race between Rogan and state Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Glendale) drew the biggest cheers -- Rogan led in absentee balloting 54% to Schiff's 44%. As elation erupted in the Rogan camp, Schiff supporters were more low-key.

On behalf of all my neighbors who live near Rockridge Terrace in Montrose, I wish to thank Adam Schiff for his indispensable role in helping us preserve, for all time, our little hillside. Thanks to his tireless efforts, state funds have been secured for La Canada Flintridge to purchase this property and keep it forever safe from the desecration of developers. There will never be any "artistic homes" or "charming condos" to make ugly what has for centuries been a thing of natural beauty.

We need a true Californian in the House of Representatives from our 27th district. On paper, Texas now has 30 representatives in the House. In reality they have 31. James Rogan was elected to represent our 27th district. He went to Washington and promptly became the puppet of two ultraconservative Texans: Republican House majority leader Richard Armey and Republican whip Tom Delay. They are such bad news that they were not allowed to speak at the Republican National Convention which nominated George W. Bush.

Letter-writer John Queen seems to have the same habit of lying to the public as Adam Schiff. I'm black and I was there when James Rogan spoke. Rogan said that abortion had managed to do to the black family what the Klan wanted to do along, kill your babies. He was right, and all African-Americans should thank him for telling the truth and support him. I am sick and tired of all the campaign mail that I have received from Adam Schiff. I am a registered Republican and strong supporter of Rep. James Rogan. I have called Schiff's office numerous times and asked to be taken off of the list, but I still receive mail from him. I think Schiff's mail is hateful and divisive. Schiff tries to distort the facts about his opponent. Schiff's latest mailer distorts a photograph of his opponent. Schiff's campaign tactics are shameful.

James Rogan In areas like Southern California, and all along our nation's southern borders, the problem of alien smuggling is most severe. What was once a trickle of smuggled immigrants has grown to a tide of organized crime smuggling aliens from every corner of the globe. Each year, millions of illegal aliens come to this country by means of smugglers, often called "coyotes." Making the problem more severe is that many of the immigrants are often found wandering in the desert, left for dead.

I have never been involved in any political activity until James Rogan ran for the state Assembly. During his first run for the Assembly, I received one of his political fliers, which convinced me to send a contribution (the first I had sent to any political campaign). Subsequently, I had the opportunity to meet Rogan. During his second campaign for the Assembly, I became a volunteer in his reelection. God has blessed me with an extraordinary life.
