I was thinking today about perspective. It began with my thoughts of what slander can do to another’s reputation. One may be innocent, someone tells a lie about them, and those who sinned by listening to gossip and believed the lie have a perspective on an innocent person that God knows is not true. Because God has the accurate perspective. Then I began thinking of a woman I sat with years ago. She had been molested as a teen by a professional — and her mother never helped her get restitution for this crime.

I feel I must respond to the In Theory question on the Faith page on Feb. 4-5 ("Ministering to the military"). (Clergy were asked: "The number of mainline military Protestant chaplains has reportedly decreased recently as evangelical Christians have enlisted in the chaplaincy. Critics have reportedly complained that some evangelical chaplains are preaching to service men and women that the only way to salvation is through Jesus -- a claim new chaplains say is only natural, adding that restricting the impulse to preach about Jesus would be a restriction of religious freedom.

Athlete questions coach's actions I am 16 years old and have been an active participant in AYSO soccer for the past 12 years. As an athlete I have had many coaches with diverse styles. Each of them had their unique way of impacting my life through their lessons about the game and sportsmanship. I have always appreciated the values that AYSO has stood for. However, I witnessed very unsportsmanlike conduct from a coach at my sister's game this past Sunday.
