GLENDALE ? Sitting in a Salt Lake City airport on Monday afternoon, Trevor Bell was about to turn his cell phone off before making one last call. It hadn?t stopped ringing since Saturday night. When asked how he was feeling less than 48 hours prior to what will be the biggest game of his life, he let out a deep breath and replied, ?I?m tired.? To say the last three days have been a whirlwind would be an understatement for the 22-year-old Crescenta Valley High graduate. ?

GLENDALE — The following are odds and ends from the local sports scene.   PITCHER OPTIONED TO SALT LAKE It appears as if former Crescenta Valley High pitching phenom Trevor Bell will start the 2010 baseball season with the triple-A Salt Lake Bees. Bell, who made his Major League Baseball debut last year with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, was optioned to Salt Lake on Tuesday along with fellow right-handed pitcher Fernando Rodriguez . Bell was hoping to compete for the role as the No. 5 starter in the Angels’ rotation, but the return of Joe Saunders from injury, coupled with last year’s late-season trade for Scott Kazmir and the offseason signing of Joel Piniero stacked the deck against the 23-year-old prospect.
