Air Force Airman Christine M. Kim has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. She is the daughter of Jay and Jenny Kim, of Burbank, and granddaughter of Saiyong Lee, of Gardena. Kim is a 2006 graduate of Burbank High School. Air Force Airman Tony Ly has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is the brother of Nancy Ly, of Glendale, and son of Gana Bui, of Milpitas, Calif.

Florante O. Cazenas, the son of Chita Noblefranca of Burbank, has joined the U.S. Air Force under the delayed entry program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to enlist and delay going into basic military training for up to one year. Cazenas, a 2003 graduate of John Burroughs High School, has reported for active duty at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Air Force Airman Brent R. Harrill, the son of Lynn Harrill of Glendale, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio.

Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Jillian E. Canfield has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. She is the granddaughter of Barbara Canfield of Norman, Okla., and the daughter of David Canfield of Burbank. Canfield is a 2001 graduate of Norman High School. Air Force Airman Eric M. White has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. He is the son of Katherine Meyer of La Crescenta and the brother of Christopher White of Spokane, Wash.

Air Force Airman Rebecca N. Ergenbrights, daughter of Betsy Ergenbrights of La Crescenta, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. She is a 2001 graduate from Crescenta Valley High School. Air Force Airman 1st Class Edwin Robert S. Tanjuaquio, brother of Jane Tanjuaquio of Glendale, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He is a 1997 graduate of James Monroe High School.

Army Pvt. Julio A. Perez, son of Yolanda and Elpidio Perez of Glendale, has arrived at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen, Md., to complete the wheeled vehicle repairer advanced individual training course. He is a 2001 graduate of Glendale High. Army Pvt. Hai S. Youn, son of Wan M. and Sun J. Youn of La Canada Flintridge, has graduated from the unit supply specialist course at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He is a 2001 graduate of La Canada High School.

Air Force Airman Sung H. In, son of Heesook Han of Montrose, has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Tex. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

LOCALS PERFORM WITH ORCHESTRA Local residents performed with the Enlightenment Chamber Orchestra in concert Dec. 27 at the Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church of Pasadena. They were Bryan Pezzone of La Crescenta, Neil Samples and Marina Manukian both of Burbank Violinist Manukian was the soloist in Vivaldi’s “Four Seasons.”   YOUNG MUSICIANS PLAY AT PAVILION Several young musicians from the area performed with the group the Young Angels Choir at the Los Angeles County Holiday Celebration on Christmas Eve at the Music Center.

Torres of Glendale, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. Torres is a 2002 graduate of Arroyo High School in El Monte. Air Force Airman Eric M. Cassondra Woodburn, the daughter of Lisa Woodburn of La Crescenta, won first place in the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Swimsuit Pageant at the Westfield Shopping Center in Arcadia. She also won the talent competition and photogenic division. She attends Crescenta Valley High School. Air Force Airman Thomas R. Normandy, who is the son of Bob and Stella Normandy of La Crescenta, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.

Army Sgt. Nicholas J. Tihinen has been deployed to Iraq to support the mission of Operation Iraqi Freedom. The service member is regularly assigned to the 84th Engineer Combat Battalion at Schofield Barracks in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Tihinen is an intelligence analyst with six years of military service. He is the son of John C. Tihinen of Los Angeles and Shelley Stueve of Thousand Oaks. His wife, Jennifer, is the daughter of Rochelle Higgs of Burbank.
