My husband and I patronize Lancers in Burbank and Foxy’s in Glendale; we like both restaurants. The article in the July 4 Leader by Donna H. Evans, “Diners put up their dukes,” did not do justice to Lancers with her one-time experience there. We appreciate that the owners of Lancers Family Restaurant keep the price reasonable for good food, and make profit by volume. The customers vote by their feet, some eating there almost on a daily basis. It’s a good feeling to start a day at a friendly place, where everyone knows your name.

Anyone who’s been to many public meetings for the Los Angeles County Transportation Authority or Los Angeles City Council knows about John Walsh. The true embodiment of a gadfly, it is not uncommon to see him stand before either board and hurl brow-raising insults and accusations at elected officials with such virulent furor that at times it seems as if his finger-waving, convulsive body might fall over. Nearly every time he is met with silence as the chairperson calls on the next speaker, or moves to the next item on the agenda.

CITY HALL City officials will continue to craft a citywide policy for residential wireless micro-cellular sites after the City Council on Tuesday moved to extend a moratorium on the equipment for another year. The moratorium was put in place to quell protests from north Glendale residents last year over a proposed T-Mobile antenna in the city’s right-of-way, and to allow time for revised regulations to be drafted. The ban was set to expire June 24, but city officials said they needed more time.
