I took my niece Danielle to Love Ride 19 on Sunday. I hadn't seen her in a while, and I thought that with all her studying these days, she might enjoy a good spectacle. Danielle's been living in a dorm since September, away from her parents for the first time in her life. If anything, I hoped, the sight of a lot of people eating, drinking and acting like outlaws might be remind her of family get-togethers back home. I don't spend nearly as much time with nieces as I would like, certainly not half the time as I spend with my nephews.
