GLENDALE — A steady rain on Sunday morning did what several teams participating in the 2008 Glendale Community College Tournament could not — namely, stop the Vaqueros softball team. Glendale college’s semifinal game against Mission College, scheduled for 9:30 a.m. at the Glendale Sports Complex, was rained out, leaving the team to cool its heels after tearing through the first two days of tournament play with four victories and no losses. The championship game, which would have been played Sunday at 12 p.m., was also cancelled.

SYLMAR - Just two days removed from a gritty win at Bakersfield, a fatigued Glendale Community College baseball squad had its six-game winning streak snapped in another Western State Conference South Division road game against LA Mission College. The Vaqueros held a three-run lead in the sixth inning before giving up seven runs in the frame and 11 unanswered to eventually lose to the Eagles, 14-6, Saturday afternoon at El Cariso Park in Sylmar. “We were a little tired,” Vaqueros Coach Chris Cicuto said.
