Tim Willert NORTHEAST GLENDALE -- Oakmont Country Club has pitched in $100,000 to help L.A. County enlarge the Verdugo Debris Basin and build a retaining wall that will protect part of the golf course from hillside erosion. "We're basically partners in the project," General Manager Steve Hockett said Wednesday. "It's to our mutual benefit." The L.A. Board of Supervisors approved the contribution Tuesday. The basin is adjacent to the country club The retaining wall will support a sagging basin slope and provide additional protection for the third tee, Hockett said.
