Payroll records appear to contradict how much money a Los Angeles police officer who brought down the "bling ring," a group of San Fernando Valley youths who burglarized the homes of Hollywood celebrities, said he was paid to work as technical advisor on a movie about the case. Officer Brett Goodkin, who is under investigation by the LAPD for consulting on Sofia Coppola's docudrama while assigned to the case, was paid between $5,000 and $6,000 for advising on the production, authorities said.

Four current and a former Glendale Armenian American police officers can move forward with their federal discrimination and harassment lawsuit against the city after a judge last week refused to throw out the claims. U.S. District Court Judge Josephine Tucker denied most of the city's motion to throw out the claims, although some that were filed against certain police commanders were dropped. “We were confident that the ruling would occur as it has,” the officers' attorney Carney Shegerian said in an email.

Andrew Lazzaretto still has a voice recording from his son - slain Glendale Police Officer Charles “Chuck” Lazzaretto - that was left 15 years ago on an answering machine. He originally saved the recording to listen to his son's voice, but he hasn't played it in years. Still, the recording, along with his son's uniforms and U.S. Marine Reserve memorabilia, are just some of the items he holds onto to keep Chuck Lazzaretto's memory alive. “I think it's impossible to get closure or completely move on,” Andrew Lazzaretto said.
