Though organist Ted Pape has retired from the First Baptist Church of Glendale after 27 years of service, he has no intention of giving up the organ. Pape started playing organ when he lived in his hometown in Dubuque, Iowa. He later attended the University of Dubuque, hoping to obtain his bachelor?s degree, but was forced to cut his education short when he was drafted during World War II. Fortunately, Pape never had to go overseas and was discharged in Los Angeles after two years of service as a medic.
