GLENDALE — If Brett Kanda ever needed to be calm and focused, it was on Tuesday. Kanda, a La Crescenta resident, came across one of the strangest moments in his golf career while attempting to qualify for the prestigious United States Golf Assn. Men’s Amateur Championship at The Prospector Golf Course at Suncadia Resort in Roslyn, Wash. Here’s what happened: Kanda was told by a tournament official that the second of his two rounds had been moved back to 1:48 p.m. from 1:42.
