SOUTHEAST GLENDALE - The Glendale High girls' basketball team promised that it would play better than it did in Thursday's nonleague contest against visiting Rosary. The Nitros will have to play better if they plan on being successful. They might not be able to play much worse. The Nitros committed 33 turnovers, had stretches of 11 and eight minutes without making a field goal and couldn't break through a suffocating defense in a 45-33 loss. “We were asleep,” Glendale senior guard Kristineh Zadourian said.

Flintridge Sacred Heart exited the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I-AA championships not with a whimper, but with a bang from the thunderous hands of Rosary?s outside hitters. The Tologs played their game, tipping for points, playing strong at the net and virtually error-free, but Rosary?s Nicole Favreau and Elizabeth Krieger?s power proved to be too much to handle and the Tologs lost, 25-20, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-7, Tuesday evening. ?It was a tough loss,?

LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE ? Camille Coffey doesn?t like to think too much. At least on the court. Instead, the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy sophomore volleyball player would rather simplify things, provided she can make an impact on the court. Coffey picked up nine of her team-best 22 kills in the fourth game to power host Flintridge Sacred Heart to a 25-23, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23 nonleague victory against Rosary on Monday night. ?I pretty much just go out there and put it all on the court,?
