NORTHEAST GLENDALE — All of a sudden, things appear to be back to normal for the Glendale Community College football team. Proving that a season-opening loss to Chaffey College was more an aberration than the norm, the Vaqueros found a winning formula against a familiar foe on Saturday. Employing its trademark stingy defense, countering with a smash-mouth running attack, and more importantly, boasting a reliable kicking game, Glendale college defeated Santa Ana College, 27-13, in its nonconference home opener at Sartoris Field.

NORTHEAST GLENDALE — For one night, the Glendale Community College football team went back to its roots. It returned to the days when it pounded the ball up the middle over and over and over and over again. It reverted back to the times when it relied on its running backs to sustain clock-draining drives that kept an opponent's potent offense off the field. In their final game of the season, the Vaqueros revived their offense of past years, relying on their tailbacks to carry them to a victory in the Western State Bowl at Sartoris Field.

GLENDALE ? With its recent success, its not surprising the Glendale Community College football program has turned out its share of talented players. It's because of that success that a large number of athletes have been moving on to four-year colleges after their tenures with the Vaqueros. However, along with individuals moving on, the program's success has also prompted players to want to come to GCC. Two former Burbank-area standouts have found new college homes after helping the Vaqueros to a fine year this past season.
