Los Angeles Futbol Club camps set The Los Angeles Futbol Club will conduct winter soccer camps at La Cañada High School's soccer field, 4463 Oak Grove Drive, La Cañada Flintridge. The camps, which will be led by Rafa Moran, Teddy Chronopoulos and Josh Henderson, will be held Dec. 26-29. A camp for those ages 8-12 will run from 8 a.m. to noon. A camp for those ages 13-16 will go from 1 to 4 p.m. An AYSO/Recreational Soccer camp, geared for those ages 8-14, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 2-5 at the same venue.

Ex-GCC standout set to be honored Freddy Sanchez, who starred for the Burbank High and Glendale Community College baseball team, will be honored Jan. 12 at two events. Sanchez, who won the National League batting title last season while starring for the Pittsburgh Pirates, will have his Burbank jersey retired and the city of Burbank will proclaim "Freddy Sanchez Day" at a ceremony at the Burbank High baseball field at 3 p.m. A banquet in his honor will follow at 6:30 p.m. at The Castaway restaurant in Burbank.
