An Orange County Superior Court judge is expected today to set a date and courtroom for the trial of a Long Beach couple and another man accused of murdering a retired Newport Beach couple. Skylar Deleon, 26; his wife Jennifer Henderson-Deleon, 24; and John Kennedy, 40, will be arraigned on charges of murdering Tom and Jackie Hawks, who police say were killed aboard their yacht, the Well Deserved, in November. Skylar and Jennifer Deleon, along with Skylar Deleon's cousin Michael Lewis Jr., have also been charged in the murder of an Anaheim man who was found with his throat slashed in Mexico in December 2003.

A Long Beach couple and another man pleaded not guilty Tuesday at their arraignment on charges that they murdered a retired Newport Beach couple. Skylar Deleon, 26, his wife Jennifer Henderson-Deleon, 24, and John Kennedy, 40, are charged with the murders of Tom and Jackie Hawks, who police say were killed aboard their yacht, Well Deserved, in November. Orange County Superior Court Judge Daniel Didier decided Tuesday that the trial will be held in Judge Frank Fasel's courtroom.

A Long Beach man and his wife, who will stand trial for the killing of a missing Newport Beach couple, were charged in a third murder case late Thursday. Skylar Deleon, 26, is accused of murdering John Jarvi, a 45-year-old Anaheim man, for financial gain. Jarvi was found with his throat slashed in December 2003 in Mexico. Deleon's wife, Jennifer Henderson-Deleon, 24, and Skylar Deleon's first cousin, Michael William Lewis Jr., 24, have been charged with accessory to the murder.

A Long Beach woman who will stand trial with her husband and another man for the murder of a Newport Beach couple pleaded not guilty Monday to charges that she was an accessory to a third murder. Jennifer Henderson-Deleon, 24, her husband Skylar Deleon, 26, and Deleon's cousin Michael Lewis Jr., 24, of Arizona, are charged in the murder of a 45-year-old Anaheim resident, John Jarvi. The Deleons are already in custody awaiting trial for the murders of Tom and Jackie Hawks, a retired couple who police believe were handcuffed to the anchor of their yacht and thrown overboard while alive in November.

Testimony will continue today in a hearing in Orange County Superior Court to decide whether two men and one woman will stand trial in the alleged killing of a Newport Beach couple. Skylar DeLeon, 26, his wife Jennifer Henderson-DeLeon, 24, and John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 40, all of Long Beach, are expected to appear in court on charges of murdering Tom and Jackie Hawks, who went missing in November after allegedly selling their yacht. Two other men charged with the murders, Myron Gardner, 42, of Long Beach, and Alonso Machain, 21, of Pico Rivera, will be tried separately, a judge ruled Friday.

A man accused of murdering a retired Newport Beach couple approached a co-worker several times asking how to dispose of bodies at sea, a Newport Beach Police detective testified at a hearing Friday in Orange County Superior Court. The co-worker refused to help Skylar Deleon, 26, of Long Beach, Det. Sgt. David Byington testified. Byington was the only witness called on the first day of a hearing to decide whether DeLeon and four others, including DeLeon's wife, will stand trial for the alleged killing of Tom and Jackie Hawks.

A Newport Beach couple fought back in the final moments of their lives before they were overpowered, bound with tape, chained to the anchor of their yacht and thrown overboard, a police detective testified Tuesday. After a two-day preliminary hearing, Orange County Superior Court Judge John Conley ruled that two men and one woman will stand trial for the murder of Tom and Jackie Hawks, who have been missing since November. Their bodies have not been found.
