Darleene Barrientos A Glendale man who held off police with semiautomatic gunfire died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, police said. Jorge Beeton, 47, fired 577 rounds from a 9mm handgun in a standoff a week ago today and suffered a gunshot wound that fractured his right hand before he shot himself, Glendale Police spokeswoman Officer Leticia Chang said. "It was a through-and-through wound, so detectives did not find the bullet," Chang said of the bullet that killed Beeton.

GLENDALE ? Los Angeles Police have identified a 50-year-old Glendale woman they believe killed her boyfriend then herself in a murder-suicide Saturday in Los Angeles. Mi Sook Kim, 50, and Hyung Dong Cho, 49, were found dead in Cho's Westlake-area apartment in the 300 block of Occidental Street at about 9 p.m. Saturday, Los Angeles Police Det. Fred Faustino said. Police ? who did not release the identification of the two people until Monday, after next of kin were notified ?

The 46-year-old man who jumped to his death Wednesday morning from the northbound Glendale (2) Freeway overpass was living with his parents and suffering from depression, police said. The man, Michael Romo, of Glendale, left a suicide note inside his 2001 Toyota Camry before he plunged to his death just before 6 a.m. from the overpass near Chevy Chase Canyon, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. Police received a call from a witness who saw Romo standing on the ledge of the overpass just before it happened, Lorenz added.

A 35-year-old transient from Honduras who broke through the glass of his third-story window at Glendale Memorial Hospital and Health Center on Wednesday evening was safely retrieved by emergency crews after threatening to jump, police said. The man, who was not immediately identified, had been admitted to the hospital after overdosing on methamphetamine, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said. He apparently broke through his third-story hospital window shortly before 6:40 p.m. and threatened to jump, prompting a massive response from emergency crews who put down giant inflatable bags below the drop site.

WEST BURBANK — A 21-year-old Burbank man shot and killed himself Wednesday afternoon while at the Firing-Line indoor shooting range on North Lake Street in Burbank, authorities said. The shooting is being treated as a suicide, Burbank Police Sgt. Travis Irving said. Officers were called to the indoor range at 1060 N. Lake St at 1:10 p.m. where they closed the site to the public for the investigation. The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of his family, entered the range and rented a handgun.

Darleene Barrientos It is oftentimes difficult for some people to see the light at the end of the tunnel when depression sets in, and lately, local police have received more calls from distraught people and their families. Glendale Police went to four locations Wednesday in response to such calls and officers put each person on a 72-hour hold because he or she was a danger to himself or herself or to others, officials said. However, police officers cannot reach them all. A 75-year-old Glendale man hung himself Friday from a tree at Crescenta Valley Park, even as three passersby tried to save him, police said.

Darleene Barrientos A Glendale man reportedly shot and killed his estranged wife Tuesday during a counseling session in Encino and turned the gun on himself. Los Angeles Police on Tuesday night were still investigating the murder-suicide shooting that occurred about 12:45 p.m. in an office building at 15720 Ventura Blvd., LAPD Officer Jason Lee said. The couple, who had not been identified Tuesday night by the coroner's office, were reportedly in the session for an hour and a half before the shooting.

The Los Angeles County coroner's office has officially deemed the death of a 15-year-old student Friday at Crescenta Valley High School a suicide. Authorities say it appears that Drew Ferraro got a running start before jumping from a three-story building during the lunch hour. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A Los Angeles County sherrif's official said Drew left behind a suicide note, but declined to divulge its contents, saying only that it did address his intent and reasoning.

An apparent suicide closed off Waltonia Drive in Montrose, below the westbound Ocean View exit of the Foothill (210) Freeway, for a few hours Friday. A 13-year-old girl attempted to commit suicide Wednesday when she jumped 35 feet into the Verdugo Wash and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, Glendale police said. The girl, whose name wasn't released because she's a minor, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where she was treated for a herniated disc, police said. Police received calls about 4:30 a.m. that the girl was screaming for help after she jumped into the wash at Jackson Street and Monterey Road, police said.
