Here is a case where the Court clearly did the right thing. In December 1998, Mary Ingham, a brittle-boned, cane-carrying diabetic who is physically disabled, called the Luxor Cab Company for a ride. Traffic was heavy that morning, and the cab driver grew frustrated and eventually ordered Ms. Ingham to pay for that part of the ride that had been completed; however, he told her to exit his cab so he could get to his coffee shop and meet his friends. This was a full two blocks from the dentist's office she was attempting to visit.

I clearly remember my first April 24 experience. I could not have been any older than 7 or 8 when my mom took me to a protest that was organized at the grounds of our neighborhood Armenian church. I even remember the taxi driver. He was a middle-aged Iranian man with a heavy 5 o’clock shadow. As he pulled up to the gates of the St. Sarkis Church in Tehran, he was puzzled by the dense and vociferous group of protesters. He asked (in Persian): “What are you Armenians protesting against?

One evening last week, I found myself completely exhausted. This is not always true at 5 p.m. But as I glanced at the clock, I felt a tinge of envy as I thought of my friends who are either single or have older children. I often hear of them going to bed early when they are tired. But alas, I myself had dinner to cook, dishes to wash, three baths to oversee, homework to help with, lunches to pack and clothes to set out for the next day. I was worn out and reflected upon how Mother's Day is approaching.

I absolutely agree with your view regarding taxi service at our airport (“Council should countermand taxi decision,” Sept. 18). The drivers are disrespectful and angry all the time! My husband and I also played the same guessing game upon getting into a taxi at the airport. After having our luggage literally thrown on the sidewalk, I called officials. I explained that I understood the driver's concern (“Airport taxi minimum fare is raised,” Sept. 18) and recommended having two taxi lines.
