The following incidents were taken from reports filed at the Glendale Police Station: 3200 block of Honolulu Avenue: A 36-year-old Glendale man reported on Sunday that a $700 Global Positioning System was stolen from his Toyota Corolla. 2400 block of Flintridge Drive: A 20-year-old Glendale woman reported on Monday that a $1,600 plasma television was stolen from her Lincoln Navigator. 200 North Verdugo Road: A 21-year-old Los Angeles woman reported on Monday that more than $1,600 was stolen from the safe at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

The following information was taken from police reports: 600 block of Alexander Street: A 34-year-old Los Angeles woman reported Wednesday that two security cameras worth a combined $1,200 were stolen. 500 block of Lincoln Avenue: A 45-year-old Glendale woman reported Wednesday that a car stereo worth $200 was stolen from her 1997 Toyota Corolla. Rosita Drive and Verdugo Road: A 35-year-old Glendale man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

A La Crescenta woman was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital with two broken ankles after another woman broadsided her Toyota Corolla as they drove north on the Glendale (2) Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Vince Bell said. Witnesses told police the La Crescenta woman was behind the other woman about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, and moved into the exit lane for Holly Drive. The other driver apparently meant to exit at Holly Drive and veered into the lane, smashing into the Corolla, Bell said.

Last week's high winds are but a memory for most Glendale residents. Unfortunately, for people like Mike Avetisyan, the damage is still very much on his mind. A falling tree crushed his white Toyota Corolla during the storm, and as of midday Monday, the tree had not been removed. Avetisyan said his insurance will not cover the loss of his car, and getting around has become a hardship. City crews removed enough of the tree to clear the road on the 400 block of Fisher Street, where the tree fell.

Crescenta Valley Sheriff detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who entered Orchard Supply Hardware (OSH) in the 3100 block of Foothill Boulevard and stole several items. A witness reported that she first saw the man about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 take several cases of water that were in a display outside the store, in the lower parking lot level. He placed the water in his vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla, and then came back into the store. She next witnessed him walk out the door, still on the lower level, with plumbing equipment.

A Glendale boy was recovering Monday after being hit by a car as he chased after a man who stole a bag from his trunk. The 17-year-old boy was kneeling on the ground Saturday in front of his car in the 1700 block of Opechee Way when he sensed movement at the rear of the vehicle, according to police reports. The boy stood to investigate and saw a man running from his car to a dirty white or off-white, four-door Toyota Corolla with his $40 roadside hazard bag, police said.

The name of Glendale man killed in a fatal traffic accident on the Hollywood (101) Freeway was released Monday by Los Angeles County coroner officials. Aleksandr Cherkendov, 27, was riding in a Toyota Corolla about 4 a.m. Sunday when it struck a freeway guardrail, overturned and was hit by a 1997 Honda Civic, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. All three of the passengers in the Corolla, which was traveling about 85 miles per hour, were pronounced dead at the scene.
