“It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” — Mark Twain   Manny Gamburyan is 5 feet, 5 inches. He’s easy to overlook. Not long after the most monumental victory in his mixed martial arts career, he was still getting overlooked, despite the fact that he has most assuredly earned himself a shot at championship glory. BURBANK - With the exception to those most ardent of mixed-martial-arts fans, Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche, despite an excellent resume in the world of MMA, was a somewhat unknown to Ultimate Fighting Championship followers and certainly the mainstream. That's certainly changed in a big way in the lead-up to what is perceived to be the most monumental bout in the history of women's mixed martial arts. Carmouche openly volunteered and asked for a bout with “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, the UFC's first-ever women's bantamweight titlist, and received an opportunity that has her less than a week away from headlining “UFC 157: Rousey vs. Carmouche” on Saturday night live on pay-per-view from the Honda Center in Anaheim.

After weeks of speculation turned into confirmation that Ronda Rousey had indeed signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, the world's preeminent mixed-martial-arts league, verification finally came on Thursday as to when, where and who the face of women's fighting will fight in her octagon debut. In Seattle ahead of Saturday night's UFC on FOX 5 event, Rousey was officially presented with her UFC bantamweight title at a prefight press conference and it was then announced she would make her promotional debut on Feb. 23 in Anaheim, main-eventing UFC 157 against challenger Liz Carmouche.

BURBANK - When Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White speaks, people tend to listen. It's hard not to, often times. There's rarely a topic he shies away from and he's not afraid of saying something controversial. And one person he doesn't seem to tire of talking about is Ronda Rousey, the newly christened and first-ever UFC women's bantamweight champion. The fact that Rousey rarely hesitates to say what's on her mind - among myriad more characteristics that have many calling her a fighter that's the total package - is likely a reason White so quickly warmed up to the prospects of Rousey headlining February's UFC 157 event.
