Janine Marnien Students at La Canada Elementary School have reinvented trash. Taking every day items like old tennis shoes and empty yogurt containers, students created works of art modeled after similar works by modern artists. The creations are on display this week in the school cafeteria. Fifth-grade students, like Maryjo Scott, studied artist Armand Pierre Fernandez. He was known for using similar objects in his work, so students also created a project using similar objects.
